IT IS OCTOBER!
So, naturally, we all want to watch all the dramas that are spooky, creepy and/or scary in this one month. There are so many options out there so HOW DO YOU CHOOSE!? Don't worry about it, you have come to the right place. Now, I will preface, I don't normally do scary things ESPECIALLY demon or possession plotlines. There is a reason I have not watched The Guest yet. I want to one day but I just haven't mustered up the courage yet. So, you might look at this list and say HEY, these aren't scary enough or you disagree that it should be on the list. That is fine! Your opinion is valid. If you want to recommend some more dramas for people to watch, GO FOR IT! My list are just dramas I have personally completed and if some dramas aren't on the list, I either haven't seen it or I needed to make some cuts.
I will also say, this list will be split into 2 blog posts because I couldn't cut it down any further and wanted to include all the ones I thought of. I also wanted to create some variety on this list. I am sure there are still some more that should be on this list that I love BUT CUTS HAD TO BE MADE!
HERE IS PART 1 OF THE DRAMAS I RECOMMEND FOR OCTOBER!
(In no particular order)
One of my ALL-TIME favorite Korean crime dramas. If you want a creepy, dark drama, CHECK THIS ONE OUT! I will warn you it is quite graphic and violent so if that is not your thing, this might not be the one for you. Voice has one of my favorite villains of all time as well. The actor who played the villain acted HIS BUTT OFF and pulled it off SO WELL!
Another CREEPY Kdrama for the list. I remember when we COLLECTIVELY lost our minds when this aired because we were expecting a comedic crime drama because of the trailers and instead we got a creepy, anxiety inducing crime drama. THIS DRAMA WAS SO CREEPY!! I LOVED IT!! It was a wild ride from start to finish where you could predict NOTHING! This one is also quite violent and dark so warning for people if that is not your thing.
Bad Kids was one of the best Chinese crime dramas I have seen. The opening scene really set the mood and surprised us SO MUCH (will not reveal more than that because you really need to experience it for yourself). The villain was SO CREEPY in this drama, it made me quite uncomfortable. SHOUT OUT TO QIN HAO ON AN AMAZING ACTING JOB!
A Japanese crime drama that BLEW MY MIND when I watched it the first time. This is another EXTREMELY dark crime drama. It does have some tough subject matter but MAN, IT WAS ONE WILD RIDE! Also, BEAUTIFUL cinematography in this drama.
This Taiwanese drama is DEFINITELY a horror drama but it is more than just a horror drama. I definitely encountered some jump scares in this one. It had beautiful cinematography and music. It will make you think and sort of question what is real and what isn't. I thought about this drama a long time after I had finished it. This drama is one of my favorite Taiwanese dramas of ALL TIME!
Another Japanese crime drama that has some really nice twists. It is the twists in dramas that can create an atmosphere of creepiness or just make us feel uneasy. It was an unexpected watch with some eccentric characters. You don't know what to think about these characters and that is what is fun about this drama. Once it has concluded and all has been revealed, you just say WOW!
This is one of my favorite Chinese crime movies. I wanted to include a movie in here for 2 reasons. One, you might not want to watch an entire drama and just need a movie. It is a classic thriller movie that can perfectly fit in with other thriller movies to watch in the month of October. It has some classic thriller tropes in it but it is very well done.
This is another fantastic crime drama. It keeps you guessing until the end. It is quite suspenseful. It is another drama that sticks with you. This drama was the first drama I ever wrote a review on for this blog. You can read it here if you want.
