JUNE 2023 WRAP UP

I can't believe that we are half way through 2023. Is it just me or this year going by REALLY FAST! Like many people, I was in a drama slump for most of June. I can HAPPILY announce that I am out of that drama slump but IT WAS REAL for a while. I don't think I have been in a drama slump like for YEARS! How was everyone else's June? Were you all in a drama slump too or did you finish some great dramas?

DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN JUNE

It really shows that I have been in a drama slump this month. I only completed 4 dramas. I have a lot of mixed feelings on what I watched too. I am honestly surprised I even finished 4 dramas this past month. I am POSITIVE July is going to be a different story.

Love Like The Galaxy Part 2 (Cdrama) (VIKI): I finished part 1 in May and then I finished Part 2 this month. I actually put everything I was watching on hold until I finished this one because I knew it would take me FOREVER to finish it if I didn't. I am glad I did that though. I actually liked Part 2 more than part 1. Maybe because it had a darker tone and was more serious while Part 1 had a lot more comedy in it. I am not a big fan of comedy. It has to be something special for me to like comedy. I do wish that Part 2 was like 3-5 episodes shorter. I still liked Part 2 a lot. It had great acting and was still very entertaining. If you are a fan of Chinese historical dramas and have not watched this drama - HIGHLY recommend.

Tale of The Nine Tailed 1938 (Kdrama) (AMAZON PRIME): I think there were a lot of mixed reviews for this Kdrama as it aired. For me, I had a lot of fun with drama. It was definitely a drama I looked forward to watch every week. I think I liked this drama more than Season 1. I loved the brothers' relationship. I loved the relationships and found family. I am curious because I think some of the plot points should have affected what happened in Season 1 since it was technically the past with some of the characters but I won't try and think too deeply into that. I am glad this drama was only 12 episodes. I think that was a good choice. I HOPE SEASON 3 HAPPENS!!

Love Tractor (Kdrama) (iQIYI): I actually enjoyed this Kdrama a lot more than I thought I would. It is the perfect drama for summer. I think it had a nice unique setting of the countryside. It made for a quiet, quaint and relaxing watch. Ye Chan WAS EVERYTHING & a highlight for me. This drama is really his story. I did think the “obstacles” that were brought in were not needed especially with the ep count. Just cute!

Queen of Masks (Kdrama) (VIKI): This Kdrama could have been SO MUCH BETTER than it was. It started out SO GOOD but then just fell flat. There was such a weak motive for the big bad guy. I remember just think WHAT?! - REALLY!? when the motive was revealed. Also, the one thing I hope didn't happened, ended up happening so that really affected me and my liking for this drama went down after that. I did like the friends and their relationship but AGAIN could have been WAY BETTER!

DRAMAS I DROPPED IN JUNE

I dropped a couple of dramas in the month of June. I think both dramas might surprise people because USUALLY these types of dramas work for me. Maybe due to my drama slump, it just was not a good time to watch them. As I have said multiple times, if I am not enjoying what I am watching, I will drop it. Life is too short - what is the point in continuing watching something I am not enjoying.

In June 2023, I dropped 2 dramas

My Perfect Stranger (Kdrama): I got to like episode 9 and I was 4-5 episodes behind. I just didn't care enough to continue and catch up on the episodes. I am kind of sad that this wasn't working for me.

I Know Your Secret (Cdrama): I pulled this cdrama off my on-hold list to see if I wanted to complete it or just drop it. When I first watched this one, it was on VIKI but now it is on YouTube. The subtitles were not the greatest and the pacing seemed weird. I just didn't have the energy to try and complete it so, I just officially dropped it.

NEW JULY 2023 DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR:

Per usual, I am excited FOR MOST of the new Kdramas in July, July has a short list of new Kdramas though unlike other months. I think like 6 or 7 new kdramas are coming in July and I am excited for 5 of them. 😂 I am also excited for a couple of other dramas supposedly starting in July from other countries as well. We will have to see if these dramas end up on legal and/or accessible streaming sites for me to watch them.

Shadow Detective Season 2 (Kdrama) (HULU): [PREMIERES JULY 5TH, 2023]

I REALLY enjoyed Season 1 of Shadow Detective. I have been looking forward to Season 2 for AWHILE! I can't believe it is FINALLY here. I am curious what will be revealed and who the culprit will be. I am sad a certain character won't be in Season 2 but I won't reveal more than that because SPOILERS! I am excited to see that Kim Shin Rok joined the cast for Season 2. I think she will do great and fit right in. She is having QUITE the year.

Jun and Jun (Kdrama) (VIKI): [PREMIERES JULY 20TH, 2023]

I have said this before and I will say it again. I am a SUCKER for office dramas. There is just something about them. So, I will always at least check out an office drama to see if I will stick with it. The trailer for Jun and Jun looks great so, I am excited for this one!

Longing For You (Kdrama): [PREMIERES JULY 26TH, 2023]

I became a fan of Na In Woo from his role in Mystic Pop Up Bar. I am excited to see him taking on a crime drama role. We all know that if it a crime drama, MOST LIKELY I will check it out at least. It sounds that this will take place in a small town which I love that setting for crime dramas. I am curious what the first trailer will be like.

D.P. Season 2 (Kdrama) (NETFLIX): [PREMIERES JULY 28TH, 2023]

I don't know if saying I am excited for D.P. Season 2 is a good thing. This is a HARD drama to watch. It is heavy and some very serious trigger warnings. It is also SO WELL DONE! Season 1 was an AMAZING drama! Season 2 looks INTENSE! I know we will get some AMAZING acting because Season 1 had some AMAZING acting. I also cried a lot with Season 1 so, I know I have to bring tissues with Season 2 as well.

The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counter Punch (Kdrama) (NETFLIX): [PREMIERES JULY 29TH, 2023]

To say I am excited for this Season 2 is an UNDERSTATEMENT!! I ABSOLUTELY ADORE SEASON 1 OF THIS DRAMA! I have needed Season 2 of this drama for a LONG TIME and we are finally getting it in July. Season 1 is just so unique and stands out. I am glad to be back with this family and see what new characters and story this drama can bring. I know a lot of other people are excited for Season 2. I found some great actors through this drama (including side characters) that I follow to this day.

My Lovely Liar (Kdrama): [PREMIERES JULY 31ST, 2023]

I am very curious about this one. It has the great combination of fantasy, romance and crime which is the PERFECT combo for me. It doesn't have a streaming site yet but I really want a good romance to latch onto so, I hope it get picked up somewhere and I get to watch this one. I also love the concept of the drama. I think it will be a lot of fun to watch. We also know Kim So Hyun and Hwang Min Hyun can act so, I am excited to see them together.

Stay By My Side (Tdrama): [PREMIERES JULY 7TH, 2023]

TAIWANESE BL DRAMAS ARE COMING BACK! I am so excited. There is just something special about BL Tdramas. I feel one has not aired for AWHILE! I also love when dramas have a supernatural element. Since Stay By My Side has this, I am EVEN MORE excited for it. The first trailer I watched looks really good. The leads seem to have good chemistry. We will just have to see if a streaming site picks this up.

Laws of Attraction (Thai Drama): [PREMIERES JULY 15TH, 2023]

I am honestly SUPER surprised this is supposed to air in July. I became a fan of Jam Rachata from the Thai Drama The Love Proposal. That tells you how much of an impact he was for me because he is part of a second couple in that drama. You can read my review of The Love Proposal here. I know the leads in Laws of Attraction are in another BL drama that I need to watch called To Sir, With Love. IT IS ON MY LIST! Maybe I should watch that before this drama. Anyway, I am surprised this is supposed to air this month because it seems like yesterday it was announced and started filming.

That is all I watched in June and what I am looking forward to in July. I am really hoping I get access to some of the ones I don't have access to right now. I know I haven't put any Cdramas on this list and I know A LOT are rumored for July. I just don't see any confirmed so, I don't know what will premiere and not premiere in July.

I am curious - what do you guys come to my blog for?
