I think June was a good drama watching month for me, but I also had mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I completed the same number of dramas I have been averaging in 2025 so, I am happy about that. I also started some new dramas and got some dramas I was watching for a long time off my current watchlist which was great. ON THE OTHER HAND, I AM WATCHING A TON OF DRAMAS! I should be finishing the dramas I am already watching and INSTEAD I AM CLICKING PLAY ON NEW DRAMAS! I need to get some dramas off my current watchlist, not add more to it. BUT HERE WE ARE, I AM JUST WATCHING ALL OF THE THINGS!

DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN JUNE

June was a big drama for me for rewatches and watching dramas/anime for podcast episodes. I had to give priority to those dramas. This caused me to complete some dramas that have been on my current watchlist for a while but also start dramas and finish them in the same month. This means I did not make a dent in my already packed current watchlist and just add to it. I felt like when I completed a drama, I just replaced it with another drama. PROBLEMS OF AN ASIAN DRAMA WATCHER! I still completed 4 dramas and 1 anime in June which has been my average for 2025 so, at least I did not go down in that number.

Mercy for None (Kdrama) (NETFLIX): TW FOR VIOLENCE & GORE (a lot) A straight forward revenge plot that didn’t have much depth, but did it need depth to be good? It has FANTASTIC fight choreography. It had FANTASTIC fight cinematography. A few things at the end disappointed me especially with the outcome of some characters but not a lot - ENJOYED THIS ONE!

RATING: 9/10

Erased (Jdrama) (NETFLIX): This was a rewatch for me. I love this crime Jdrama. It still holds up today (bias review). The cinematography is beautiful. I love the time travel aspect of the plot. TW for child abuse, child death. - it is a hard subject matter to watch. Acting was great! If you have not watched this crime Jdrama, you should check it out. ESPECIALLY if you like the crime genre already. I did a VERSUS podcast episode for this Jdrama and the Anime on the podcast so, you can go listen to that episode now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

RATING: 9/10

Erased (Anime) (HULU): I can see why this is such a beloved anime. I liked the live adaption a little more but that may be a little bias. Loved the friendship and mother/son relationship. TW for child abuse, child death - hard topics discussed. The ending seems rushed and unfinished. Check out my VERSUS Episode on the podcast where I go into more detail about this anime.

RATING: 8/10

Love Like the Galaxy (Cdrama) (rewatch) (VIKI): This is a rewatch for me. I love this cdrama and enjoyed this rewatch. I did still like the 2nd half more than the 1st half due to more angst. I LOVED the main couple as always. I had a lot of fun revisiting them. The acting is so good, and I loved rewatching the relationships in this drama, seeing how they progressed through the drama. Look forward to a review on the Tea and Soju Podcast for this cdrama with the Drama Trio.

RATING: Part 1 - 8/10, Part 2 - 9/10

Buried Hearts (Kdrama) (HULU): I should have finished this a while ago. It STARTED OFF STRONG, but I had issues with the ending. This is definitely one of my favorite Park Hyung Sik roles. The entire cast acted well. I LOVED the main villain but there were too many villains eventually. The romance was nice at times but also stopped halfway through and wasn’t needed. Some outcomes of characters were predictable and anticlimactic. The OSTs are great. It is CLEARLY set up for S2 which I would watch.

RATING: 8.5/10

NEW JULY 2025 DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR

I know I am complaining that I have too many dramas on my current watchlist BUT HERE I AM WANTING TO WATCH EVERY NEW KDRAMA COMING OUT IN JULY! Almost all of the Kdramas coming out in July are crime dramas which is why this is a problem. I also just have not been watching on air dramas this year so, maybe I should just wait to start these when I have room on my current watchlist. Most of these Kdramas, I have no idea where they will be airing either. This also gives me the idea that I will not be watching a lot of new Kdramas in August. When this happens where there are a lot of crime Kdramas one month, it means the next month is FULL of romance Kdramas. We will have to see what happens.

Law and The City (Kdrama) (VIKI) [PREMIERES JULY 5, 2025]

I want to try this Kdrama out. I love lawyer dramas. I am a little hesitant about this though because if it is TOO much like a slice of life drama, I won't like it. It is giving that this will be a slice of life lawyer drama. Another draw for me with this Kdrama is the cast. I like that it is an ensemble cast, and I like a lot of the actors/actresses in the cast. Kang You Seok is having quite the year so far. I am definitely going to at least check this one out and see what I think of it.

Better Late Than Single (KVariety) (NETFLIX) [PREMIERES JULY 8TH, 2025]

You know I am OBSESSED with Romance Variety shows. I have a LONG list of romance variety shows I need to get too and there is a new one coming to Netflix in July. This is about a group of people who are perpetually single, and they go on the show to become the best versions of themselves and to get out there and date. It looks this will also have a panel of celebrities who will give commentary to the show and contestants which is always my favorite setup for a romance Variety show.

S Line (Kdrama) [PREMIERES JULY 11, 2025]

THIS KDRAMA IS FINALLY COMING IN JULY! I think I have been hearing about this Kdrama for at least 6 months but probably longer than that. I AM PRAYING WE GET ACCESS TO THIS KDRAMA! I need Lee Soo Hyuk on my screen again. Also, the rest of the cast looks FANATSTIC! I mean I haven't seen Lee Da Hee in a drama in FOREVER as well. The concept for the drama just sounds unique and interesting. It is also a short Kdrama with only 6 episodes.

Low Life (Kdrama) (HULU/Disney +) [PREMIERES JULY 16, 2025]

This drama looks so different and fun. FIRST OFF, THE CAST LOOKS AMAZING! Next, you don't love a crime drama where people are going after a treasure at sea. It looks HIGH production as well. I am trying to not have too high of expectations for this one because anything could happen, but it is hard! Given the time period, I am sure I am going to be crying my eyes out at some point as well.

Boys Planet II (KVariety) [PREMIERES JULY 17, 2025]

I watched Season 1 so, I might as well watch Season 2. I haven't heard a lot about this show and what it will be like. I have heard a rumor that they are planning on making 2 groups and not just 1. I am intrigued by that. I also don't want to deal with Mnet's editing because they do evil editing. I also know there are going to be a lot of members of various Kpop groups that I know who will be on this season. So, we will see, If I get access to it, I will probably watch it because I always enjoy it - even if it is stressful.

The Nice Guy (Kdrama) (rumor Disney +/Hulu) [PREMIERES JULY 18, 2025]

Another Kdrama that I think mentioned back in January when it first caught my eye. It will be airing in July now. Lee Dong Wook being the son in a gangster family is everything I wanted in a drama. I hope I get access to this Kdrama. This looks like it could have a ton of genres in it from romance to action to melodrama. I also love the supporting cast in this drama. Rumor is it might be Disney +/Hulu, so we will have to see what happens.

The Defects (Kdrama) [PREMIERES JULY 21, 2025]

This looks like SUCH a sad and dark Kdrama. No idea if it will be showing up anywhere internationally - we will have to wait and see what happens. This drama is about a woman who is the head of an illegal adoption organization who kills kids that are returned to them if something goes wrong with the adoption. There is revenge involved with this. It looks like a twisted short Kdrama that seems right up my alley.

Trigger (Kdrama) (NETFLIX) [PREMIERES JULY 25, 2025]

Another Kdrama that I have been waiting a while for. This looks like it will be an intense ride from start to finish. Korea is known for not having a lot of guns so, what happens when the country is all of a sudden overrun with guns. That is what this Kdrama is about. It looks at two lead characters on opposite sides of this gun incident. Things start to spiral according to the trailer, and you just need to hang on until the end. I am interested what type of commentary will come out of this Kdrama. I also love the cast - we got Kim Nam Gil and Kim Young Kwang as leads. I mean Kim Won Hae in the supporting cast has to tell you something too. It is a Netflix original, so we are going to get all the episodes at once.

OLDER DRAMAS I PLAN TO START IN JULY DUE TO PODCAST RECORDINGS OR OTHER THINGS:

  • Signal Season 1(Kdrama)

  • Heart Signal Season 2 (Korean Version)
