*Now as per usual with any review I write, I will not be including any spoilers in this review.*

Here is a short synopsis of the movie - A gangster hides out on Jeju Island. He has a target on his back and meets a woman with her own troubles.

I know the synopsis is short and sweet but I don't want to give too much away and if I put in any more detail, the plot would be spoiled. I have been looking forward to this movie FOR A LONG TIME! Especially when I knew who would be in it because the actors/actresses in this movie are REALLY GOOD!

Let me tell you, IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! There are a lot of great things about this movie that I loved. There are couple of things that I would have preferred was different but it did not take away from my enjoyment of the film. I will discuss the pros and cons of this film in the paragraphs below.

The Pros

1) Cinematography - THIS MOVIE IS GORGEOUS! You click play on the film and immediately you notice the color grading and the cinematography. It is really unique with this. With Jeju Island as a backdrop for most of this movie, you are ALREADY working with some beautiful scenery but how this movie is shot just makes the island look EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL! There is a prominent color of yellow in this film which made it an interesting thing to look for throughout the film but the colors in general were an interesting choice throughout the film. I just watched this movie in awe with its cinematography and color choices.

2) Acting - The acting REALLY stood out in this film. I mean with a cast like this film has, it is no surprise that the acting was AMAZING in this movie. I noticed that the male lead (Uhm Tae Goo) had significantly less lines than other cast members (which is funny because he is a lead character) BUT HIS ACTING WAS SUPERB! Maybe because I thought he didn't have a lot of lines that his acting stood out to me more. You can say a lot with just body language. The stand out acting performance in this film for me was Jeon Yeo Bin. SHE WAS SPECTACULAR IN THIS FILM! She really shined with this character and with the material this film gave her.

3) Classic Gangster Movie - If you are a fan of the classic Korean gangster movie about revenge and loyalty, YOU WILL LOVE THIS FILM! I mean if you are a fan of just a classic ganster movie, you will like this movie. It is a classic story which makes it not anything new but it is a reliable story. It will definitely keep you entertained and on the edge of your seat.

The Cons

1) Story - Now as I mentioned above, this story is nothing new. It is a classic gangster story which makes it very predictable. Not necessarily a bad thing but if you are looking for something new, you won't find it in this movie. Also in my opinion, the movie ran a little long. It is a little over 2 hours in length and some parts in the middle dragged a bit for me. It never made me want to turn it off or anything but I definitely found myself waiting for the next action or fight scene sometimes in the middle of the movie.

I also personally did not think the film needed to have a "romance" in the film. I mean if it was supposed to be a romance, it was more like two people having a connection but never really defining that connection. It was just poorly executed in my opinion. JUST DEFINE IT ALREADY! It needed to be defined as one thing or the other, not this wishy washy take it as you want aspect that we got in the film. I just liked the two leads having a connection - THATS IT!

2) Violence - If you don't like violence and blood, THIS IS NOT THE MOVIE FOR YOU! For me, I have no problem with violence so this was not a con for me personally. If you can't handle gruesome violence and lots of blood, THIS WILL BE A CON FOR YOU! This movie has a lot of violence and blood and doesn't shy away from it AT ALL!

Rating: 8/10 (Streaming on NETFLIX now)
