AUGUST 2025 WRAP UP

AUGUST WAS A FANTASTIC MONTH FOR ME! In terms of completing things that is. I didn't make progress of clearing any more off my current watchlist BUT I completed WAY MORE in the month of August than I have done all year so far in 2025. I will take that. September is looking to be a BUSY month for me in terms of what I will be watching and needing to complete in September. Hopefully I can get more things off my current watchlist. I definitely have plans to get back into watching some airing Kdramas in September, if I have access to them.

DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN AUGUST

A lot of the dramas and other things I watched and completed in August were for the podcast and future episodes I plan to record. So, most of the things I completed in August were things that weren't hanging around on my current watchlist for months but things I started and completed within the month of August. I watched a wide range of things in the month of August which also caused my ratings to be all over the place as well.

KPop Demon Hunters (American Movie) (NETFLIX): This was a lot better than I thought it would be. I loved the concept. The music is catchy. I have been listening to soundtrack non-stop. I loved that they went all in with choreo & the kpop world. I loved seeing all of the Korean culture. I loved the references to kdramas. It is downrated because I had lots of unanswered questions by the end & the pace was really fast to me. Too fast in my opinion. You will see a review of this movie on the podcast in the future FOR SURE!

RATING: 9/10

Reset (Thai Drama) (IQIYI): I loved this Thai drama, but it wasn’t perfect. You watch this for the main couple and that pays off. Their relationship was one of the best things about this drama. The acting was great. I loved the support characters and how much they cheered on the main couple. I wish there was a second couple, and I felt the revenge could have hit harder. I also had a couple of unanswered questions by the end especially having to do with the time travel and Thada's character. THE MAIN COUPLE WAS AMAZING THOUGH!

RATING: 9/10

Signal Season 1 (Kdrama) (rewatch) (NETFLIX): I have not seen this in almost 10 years. I STILL LOVE THIS KDRAMA! I love the trio. The acting is so good. The story is told so well. The way everything was connected and explained was a masterclass of storytelling. It is emotional especially since it pulls from real life crimes. There is a reason why this is a classic Kdrama. I am so curious what S2 is going to look like. There is a podcast episode review coming out for this Kdrama in September so, look forward to that.

RATING: 9.5/10

Heart Signal Season 2 (Korean Dating Show) (VIKI): This is my least favorite season of all the seasons I have seen so far with Heart Signal. None of my favs got their wish at the end. I was frustrated with some people who led people on. I also thought this season dragged at parts. It was still cute, and I still got invested but it could have been WAY BETTER! Season 3 of the Korean version is still my fav so far.

RATING: 7/10

Heart Signal Season 2 Special (Korean Dating Show) (VIKI): I rated this just a bit higher than the actual show because it was fun to revisit great moments. It also was nice to get commentary and back story on some of the scenes that I saw in Heart Signal Season 2. I still rated it lower compared to other seasons I have seen because overall Season 2 was not my favorite.

Medical Examiner Dr. Qin: The Survivor (Cdrama) (YouTube): You can skip this cdrama. The only reason I rated it a 5 is because the cases were interesting. The famous trio fought the entire drama which I did not like. The drama tried to put in romance which did not work. The actors were stiff & had no chemistry. It was just bad. I got bored and I also knew who the big bad guy was way before I even got to the halfway mark which is never good for me. This was part of the reason why I was so bored.

RATING: 5/10

Medical Examiner Dr. Qin: Fatal Novel (CMovie) (YouTube): Don’t watch this. It had a movie made for tv feel, not in a good way. The only reason I rated a 3 is the case was mildly interesting. There was no chemistry with leads. It wasn't even a trio team. This film was nothing like the classic crime drama. It had lots of plot holes. It was not well acted. It was way too short, and the story was not well executed well. I knew the main bad guy right away because the story was really cliche. It was JUST BAD. I mean it was a mini movie about a coroner and there were barely any autopsies.

RATING: 3/10

Medical Examiner Dr. Qin: Blood Red Wedding (CMovie) (YouTube): Also, don’t watch this. It also had a movie made for tv feel, not in a good way. Also rated a 3 like the other tv movie for the same reason of the case being mildly interesting. No chemistry with leads at all. The characters were not even close to their characters in Season 1. I did not get invested in any of the characters or story. It also had lots of plot holes. It was not well acted. Romance was unnecessary. It was way too short, and the story was not well executed well. You can skip this one as well.

NEW SEPTEMBER 2025 DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR

September is looking to be a pretty busy month for me once again. I am looking forward to a fair number of dramas and shows in September. I don't know if I will get around to watching all of them, but I know I will be trying to get back into some airing Korean Dramas and watching them as they air which I have not done in quite some time. It really comes down to if I have access to everything I want to watch, how full my current watchlist is already and how my life in general is looking - how busy am I? I know I won't be able to watch all of these dramas right when they air because I am already watching 5 things and I don't want to overwhelm myself. I am DEFINITELY clicking play on 2 of these dramas though when they premiere. We will see about the rest, but they all have been added to my plan to watchlist. THATS FOR SURE!

Queen Mantis (Kdrama) (NETFLIX/VIKI) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2025]

I mean at this point, it is no surprise I am looking forward to this Kdramas and why. 2 reasons I am looking forwards to this Kdrama. One, it is a crime Kdrama with a Serial Killer. I AM THERE! Two, it stars one of my favorite Kdrama actors and at this point anything he is in, I am watching. Jang Dong Yoon stars in this as a cop and that is a first for him as well. Queen Mantis gives me Come and Hug Me vibes because it is about a cop whose mother was a serial killer. He has hated her all his life and one day has to team up with his mother when a murder case comes up that looks like a copycat case of his mothers. This drama is also a reunion between Jang Dong Yoon and Kim Bo Ra. They play husband and wife in Queen Mantis and they both starred together in Like Flowers in Sand.

Tempest (Kdrama) (DISNEY +/HULU) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 10, 2025]

THE WAY I AM PRAYING THIS IS THE BODYGUARD ROMANCE I HAVE NEEDED IN MY LIFE SINCE BLOOD FREE! I am trying to keep my expectations low because I have been let down before. Thios is another Kdrama that has a vast and amazing cast which is exciting. Both leads Kang Dong Won and Jun Ji Hyun have not done a Kdrama in a LONG TIME! I just hope this one is good and is satisfying.

Walking on Thin Ice (Kdrama) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 20, 2025]

This has been on my list to check out for a while, ever since I heard about it. 2 reasons why I want to watch this one. The cast looks good to me. I like both Lee Young Ae and Kim Young Kwang. THE WAY I WANT A NOONA ROMANCE SO BAD, but I know that probably won't happen with this drama. I am in need of a noona romance. The synopsis of this drama also makes me curious because it is about drugs. We all know how strict Korea's drug laws are. So, the fact that this drama is about a housewife who turns to selling drugs to pay for medical expenses is interesting. We will have to wait and see if a streaming platform picks this one up.

Crime Scene Zero (KVariety Show) (NETFLIX) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 23, 2025]

Crime Scene is a classic Korean Variety Show which started a reboot last year. This looks like the newest season after the reboot. The setup is you have a group of celebrities who are players in this role-playing game and they try to figure out crimes that are displayed in front of them. Some people are detectives, and some people are suspects and criminals hiding among the group and the culprit has to be weeded out - all while trying to not end up dead themselves. Yes, sometimes the crimes and these shows can be over the top and a little cheesy, but I still find them fun. I like to play along.

First Lady (Kdrama) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 24, 2025]

I don't know if I will stick with this one, but I am curious about it. I like the cast. We have some heavy hitters in this cast. This is going to be a weird thing to say BUT I AM DYING FOR A GOOD CHEATING STORY! This one sound like it has potential. The story is about a newly elected president who demands a divorce from his wife right after he gets elected. Apparently, it came out of the blue. His wife was set to become first lady and all of a sudden, she is hit with this. So, I am sure she will investigate why, maybe find a mistress or something else. Maybe also get revenge which would be fun to watch too. I am trying to not go in with a lot of expectations or theories because I want to be surprised.

Ms. Incognito (Kdrama) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 29, 2025]

I will admit, I am interested in this because the story seems crazy to me. We have Jeon Yeo Been who works as a bodyguard to the rich chaebol. She enters a contract marriage with this rich chaebol who could be her grandfather apparently and is also his bodyguard. She only has to last 3 months while protecting him. I love the cast in this and apparently there is supposed to be romance with another person, not the old chaebol she is contract married too. I am just so curious about this one and it sort of came out of the blue. As I said, I am in need of a good bodyguard romance even though it sounds like with this one, it isn't your typical bodyguard romance where she has a romance with the person, she is protecting but someone else entirely.

Alice in Borderland Season 3 (Jdrama) (NETFLIX) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 25, 2025]

I am just going to call this one out. I still need to watch Season 2 so, maybe since the third and final season is airing in September, that will kick my butt into gear to watch Season 2. I say that now, but I haven't even watched Season2 or Season 3 of Quid Game yet either. I am a lot of Season 2s and Season 3s to catch up on. I am excited to see how all of this concludes though.
