I finished season 1 SO, NATURALLY I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY WATCH SEASON 2 AND FINISH IT! It was a VERY quick watch. MUCH FASTER than season 1 but probably because it was under 20 episodes long. This is my review of Noble Aspirations S2.
*Now as per usual with any review I write, I will not be including any spoilers in this review.*
So, I am not going to put a QUICK SYNOPSIS OF NOBLE ASPIRATIONS S2 in this post because of 2 reasons. One reason is that the synopsis would DEFINITELY have spoilers and I don't want to reveal any of those. The other reason is that is really is just the continuation of season 1. So, you have to watch season 1 to watch season 2.
Overall, I liked Season 2 more than Season 1! There are many factors on why that was which I will explain below. I can see why Noble Aspirations S1 and S2 was SO POPULAR when it aired. If you like Xianxia dramas, you will love this drama. If you liked season 1 of Noble Aspirations, you will LOVE SEASON 2!
WHAT I LOVED ABOUT THIS DRAMA
THE STORY
I LOVED the story in Season 2! Maybe it was because it was a tighter story due to the number of episodes? Maybe I just had so much fun with the character Xiao Fan in this season. EITHER way, the story was a CRAZY RIDE and I LOVED every minute of it! You had secrets and revenge going on. Maybe I enjoyed this season so much because I LOVE A GOOD REVENGE PLOT! You had magic and fighting going on. All leading to an EPIC battle at the end. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!
XIAO FAN CHARACTER
I am going to try and talk about this without revealing spoilers. The character of Xiao Fan made some DRASTIC changes between Season 1 and Season 2. I LOVED HOW HE CHANGED IN SEASON 2!! GIVE ME REVENGE SEEKING XIAO FAN ALL DAY LONG! Li Yi Feng looked SO GOOD in his black and red costumes in this season. GIVE ME ALL THE BLACK AND RED COSTUMES!! I did love that even though the character of Xiao Fan was seeking revenge and essentially evil in this season, you still got glimpses of how his character was in Season 1. It made him seem more human. I thought that was brilliant on the writers' part. I do have to admit though, other times I wish the writer had made his character go EVEN DARKER AND EVILER!
OSTs
Just as I said with the review of Noble Aspirations S1, I ADORE THE OSTS OF THIS SERIES! I am OBSESSED! There is a song from this season that I ESPECIALLY love that Li Yi Feng sang. I love when OSTs take on a more rock sound and have a TON of guitar. This series just have a wonderful instrumental to its drama.
THE ACTING
Li Yi Feng REALLY stood out to me in the season. HIS ACTING WAS SO GOOD! His facial expressions when he was getting revenge or even just reacting to situations. I loved his acting in this season EVEN MORE than season 1. But let's be honest, THE ENTIRE CAST WAS SO GOOD! The great acting especially showed in scenes where the characters were angry or sad. That is where the talent of this cast REALLY STOOD OUT TO ME!
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER
THE NUMBER OF EPISODES
I find it funny because my complaint with Season 1 was there were TOO MANY EPISODES! I would have liked a few MORE episodes with Season 2. My explanation why is explained in my comments about the ending. I will just say that I didn't hate the ending but Season 2 could have used at least 2 more episodes to have a more satisfying ending. This season should have just been combined with season 1 and they cut down the episodes of season 1 to put both seasons together into 1 drama.
THE ENDING
Now I will say, the ending wasn't as abrupt as Season 1 with Season 2 BUT it still was an open ending. It left the audience wanting more. It left the ending up for out interpretation. The audience could sort of write their own ending. Now, does this season need a Season 3? Not necessarily but as I said with the number of episodes, it could have used a couple more episodes to give a more definite ending. I will say again though, I am not as mad about this ending as I was with the ending of Season 1. The ending of Season 1 even affected the opening of Season 2 which in my opinion made it seem EVEN MORE abrupt! This ending of Season 2 left enough open for a Season 3 WHICH WE ALL DON'T WANT but also kind of want...
