You want lists - WELL, NOW YOU GOT THEM! I love the Xianxia/Wuxia genre of Chinese dramas. I will say as I wrote this list even though I say I love this genre; I HAVE NOT WATCHED MANY DRAMAS FROM THESE TWO GENRES! 😂 My plan to watch list is COVERED with Chinese dramas from these two genres. So, most likely if your favorite Xianxia/Wuxia drama are not on this list, I probably have not watched them yet. I only included dramas that I have completed on this list. I swear I do love this genre. I feel like a fake fan because I say I love this genre and then haven't watched a lot of this genre in Chinese drama land. 😂 I mentioned some of these genres in the FANTASY/SUPERNATURAL genre in my FAVORITE GENRES AND WHY blog post so, you can go to that blog post and get more details on why I like this genre so much. You may have seen some of these dramas listed in other lists I have posted to this blog.
I am sure I have not watched some of your favorite Xianxia/Wuxia cdramas. So, give me some suggestions. I am always looking for more Chinese dramas of this genre to check out. I am always adding dramas that catch my eye to my plan to watch lists. This list is in no particular order. I enjoyed all of them. If you like this type of list blog posts, let me know because I can definitely post more of them.
ONCE UPON A TIME IN LINGJIAN MOUNTAIN (2019)
Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain is a drama that you don't take seriously. It sure didn't take itself seriously. I think that is why it stood out and was so much fun to watch. I was laughing so hard during many scenes in this drama. Everything about this drama is over the top AND I LOVE IT! It doesn't have the highest budget but it worth the watch. It reminds me a little of an anime with how the characters act and how the production looks. That is so unique to me. The production even said that was intentional which I thought was cool. I don't see many people talking about this drama so, I put it on the list because I enjoyed it and I want more people to watch it.
TEN MILES OF PEACH BLOSSOMS (2017)
Ten Miles of Peace Blossoms is now a classic. This was one of the first Xianxia dramas I ever watched. Like many others I am sure, it remains a favorite of mine. This drama introduced me to many Chinese actors/actresses who I love today. I loved the EPICNESS of this drama. I binged THE HELL out of this drama. The main couple's chemistry was amazing but I also fell in love with the second couple SO MUCH!
THE UNTAMED (2019)
Another Chinese drama that is a favorite for many and has become a classic. The Untamed took the drama watching community by storm and I don't think has let go since. 😂 I did not watch it when it aired but watched it later, probably a year after it wrapped up airing. I STILL LOVE THE OSTs of this drama. You are bound to find something or someone to love in this drama. Another drama that is epic and it has characters you root for. I found this drama to easily become invested in. I loved the leads in this drama and how they supported each other.
NOBLE ASPIRATIONS (2016)
Noble Aspirations is an older drama but a good drama. Given that it is an older drama, it isn't perfect but I had A LOT of fun watching both seasons of this Chinese drama. You can read my review of Season 1 here and my review of Season 2 here for this drama. I am a sucker for the weak hero who travels around with a group of friends and discovers his power. You know I love a good FOUND FAMILY in a drama. I personally liked Season 2 better than Season 1 but you need to watch Season 1 to understand Season 2. If you like Xianxia dramas, you can't go wrong with at least checking this drama out. THE CAST IN THIS DRAMA IS AMAZING! Everyone is in this drama. 😂
WORD OF HONOR
Word of Honor is another drama that had everyone talking. You like two leads who have AMAZING chemistry? You need to watch this drama. The fights scenes are beautiful to watch. This is another drama where you become attached to characters easily and become invested in their stories. It is just a fun and entertaining drama. Something you really wouldn't expect going into this drama from what you were hearing about it early on. I think that is why it was such a surprise to everyone and why so many people enjoyed it.
THE KILLER IS ALSO ROMANTIC
The Killer is also Romantic is on this list for people who want a short web drama to check out. Maybe you haven't checked this one out yet. This is a cute drama that is very entertaining. Another drama where the leads had great chemistry. Both couples actually were great. I loved a lot of the fight scenes which were beautifully shot. I was impressed by this drama because it is a web drama which usually don't get the highest budget. The story also was good because it surprised me. The story was clever at times. THAT IS THE LIST. Just some of my favorite Xianxia/Wuxia dramas. Again, making this list just showed that I have a TON of dramas in both these genres that I have yet to watch.
