January is over. THAT MEANS IT IS TIME FOR ANOTHER WRAP UP POST!! The first one for 2022 as well. Did January seem fast and gone in a blink of an eye for you or did it go by at a snail's pace? I think it was a combination for me. Now that we are officially in 2022 - LET'S SEE WHAT 2022 BRINGS US!
DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN JANUARY:
As we all know because I have been saying it all month, but I am going to say it again, I used January to CLEAN OUT MY CURRENT WATCHLIST! I always have this idea during the holidays that I am going to have ALL THIS TIME to watch dramas which never is the case. So, I always fall behind on everything I am watching. When January rolls around, I start all the new dramas and then feel overwhelmed because I am behind on what I was already watching and now have all these new dramas too. NOT THIS YEAR, this January I made the effort to not click play on mostly anything new in January and just finished what I was already watching. It worked out well. I am mostly done with everything I was watching except for 2 dramas so I CAN START NEW DRAMAS IN FEBRUARY!! I plan to do this in November/December of this year and not January. We will see how that goes.
The Journalist (Jdrama) (NETFLIX): I think if I didn't go into this drama with the expectations that I had, I would have liked this drama more than I did. It is a slow burn, so it took me a couple of episodes to get into it. I was not expecting the slow burn, so I had to get used to it and stick with the drama, not drop it. THE ACTING IS PHENOMENAL! The entire cast was fantastic in this drama. I also loved the cinematography in this drama. I plan to write a review for this drama and release in the coming month so look for that because I go into more details on what I liked and didn't like about this drama. You can read more about my thoughts in my review right here.
Show Window: The Queen's House (Kdrama) (VIKI): WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THIS DRAMA!? I want everyone to watch it because I need people to gush with me about it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS DRAMA! I was SO INVESTED in it. 😂 It was so addictive to watch. I honestly wanted another ending, but the ending also made sense to me. It was still a satisfying ending. ACTING WAS INCREDIBLE! The cast did such a good job. I LOVE THE OSTs as well. I just loved that I could not predict this entire drama. THAT IS A FEAT WITHIN ITSELF!
Rainless Love in a Godless Land (Tdrama) (iQIYI): I honestly have no idea why it took me SO LONG to finish this drama. Looking back, I have to hit myself because I ADORED THIS DRAMA! I mean, if I enjoyed it SO MUCH, why did I not finish it in 2021? I swear I have said this with every drama in this post, but THE ACTING WAS PHENOMENAL IN THIS DRAMA! I loved that I learned about a new culture through this drama. I am ADDICTED to the OSTs of this drama. You do have to pay attention to this drama because it can get confusing BUT such a unique drama with a GREAT message that everyone needs to hear. You can read more about my thoughts in my review right here.
Bad and Crazy (Kdrama) (iQIYI): This drama was A LOT OF FUN! The best part of the drama was the Bromance between the 2 leads. You could also tell that the cast just had a fun time filming this drama. Some of the plot points seemed a little far-fetched for me which says a lot because I usually can look past most things. I also thought some characters could had a better story but that might have to do with the fact that it was only 12 episodes. I just had SO MUCH FUN watching this drama.
Danger Zone Season 2 (Tdrama) (iQIYI): I didn't like this season as much as I liked the first season. I thought the flow of the story was off. This is probably one of the reasons why it took me so long to finish it. I definitely got bored in some parts because I didn't care about the characters in the scene, or I was confused because the flow didn't make sense. That being said, there was many things I liked about this drama. Just like season 1, THE ACTING WAS GREAT! Any time there is FOUND FAMILY in a drama, I LOVE IT, and this is no exception. The story also still had some nice twists. You can read more about my thoughts in my review here.
Tinted With You (Kdrama) (VIKI): This was an easy and cute watch. I liked that it was unique in the sea of BL dramas, especially with its historical setting. It didn't have the most AMAZING acting, but I could see talent. The actors were pretty new, so it is understandable. I am excited to see what these actors do next. OF COURSE, as with every Korean BL drama, it was too short.
Now We Are Breaking Up (Kdrama) (VIKI): This was just an OK drama. It wasn't GREAT but it wasn't BAD either. I loved the couple. I thought they had great chemistry. I liked the message where breaking up doesn't mean just in a romantic sense. You can "break up" with many different aspects of your life. Some parts I didn't care for and I didn't think all the storylines were resolved.
Behind Cut (Kdrama) (VIKI): Another short BL Korean drama that was too short. I also liked this one. The main couple had chemistry and were cute together. It was another easy and quick watch. I did think the pacing of this drama was off and did not make sense AT ALL! The pacing took me out of the story. I also did not understand the ending AT ALL! The OSTs are great!
NEW FEBRUARY 2022 DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR:
Now, because I have not started any of the dramas, I was excited for in January, I am not repeating them here because I am now starting them in February. This is just what is and/or might be premiering in February, that I am excited to watch. Another thing to point out, The Winter Olympics and Lunar New Year is going on so that might change premiere dates. I am going to write them here in the post as it is right now, but I can't 100% say that the drama will air on that day because something might come up and delay it. I just need to explain that now.
Love and Leashes (KMovie) (NETFLIX): [PREMIERES FEBRUARY 11TH, 2022]
I mean, JUST LOOK AT THE POSTER! I have to check this movie out when it gets uploaded to Netflix. I am just too curious on what it will be like. It will also be an interesting watch for Valentine's Day since I am single and have nothing to do. 😂 I have been curious about this movie since it was announced last year. I want to see what Seo Hyun and Lee Jun Young's dynamic and chemistry is like. Also, I just need to see how this movie's plot plays out.
Why Women Love (Cdrama) (VIKI): [STARTS FEBRUARY 11TH, 2022]
I am always a sucker for an older woman/younger man romance so OF COURSE this Chinese drama is on my radar. I really should write a blog post of my favorite Older Woman/Younger Man dramas. I hope this one gets good reviews because I still have a few of these types of romance cdramas to watch from last year and I want to add this to the list.
Fishbowl Wives (Jdrama) (NETFLIX): [PREMIERES FEBRUARY 14TH, 2022]
The synopsis alone pulled me in and got me excited to watch this drama. We already know I love a crazy drama. This one sounds right up my alley. You have what looks like an older woman/younger man romance. You got cheating and drama. You got secrets. I can smell the drama in this plot from here. I also like a lot of the cast. I have seen them in other dramas and movies. I am just SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS DRAMA! Another plus to the drama is this poster is GORGEOUS!!
Thirty-Nine (Kdrama) (NETFLIX): [STARTS FEBRUARY 16TH, 2022]
I think the theme for February is Older Woman/Younger Man dramas. 😂 Now in this Kdrama's case, not all the couples have this dynamic. From the teaser, I know at least one of the couples will have this setup. I also love a good ensemble cast who each have their own stories and love lives. I like a lot of the actresses/actors in this drama too. I NEED THIS DRAMA TO BE GOOD!
Cutie Pie (Thai Drama): [STARTS FEBRUARY 19TH, 2022]
This one has many tropes to it but also some unique factors. I am excited to watch Zee in a drama again. You got an arranged marriage where the couple don't see eye to eye. This isn't new but it is GAY relationship which is unique. There is potential for multiple couples which I always am a fan of. You got a drama about 2 rich sons of companies. WE LOVE A GOOD RICH SON DRAMA OVER HERE! I am very curious what the tone of this drama will be. Will it have comedy or be more dramatic and romance or a combination of both?
A Business Proposal (Kdrama) (NETFLIX): [STARTS FEBRUARY 28TH, 2022]
Another drama trope that I AM A SUCKER FOR is an office romance especially if it is a boss and employee romance. This drama also looks like it has a contract relationship in it WHICH I ALSO LOVE! Those 2 things alone caught my eye with this drama and made me put it on my list to watch. We are sometimes very simple in what makes us start a drama. It doesn't take much AT ALL for dramas to catch my eye. 😂
Kill Heel (Kdrama)(VIKI): [STARTS FEBRUARY 23RD, 2022]
I hope I can watch this drama. I still don't know where it will air on streaming sites, if it airs on a streaming site as well. We will have to wait and see. I need a drama where it is strong women. If this drama has murder in it, EVEN BETTER but I have yet to confirm that this is the case. I don't know much about the drama but watching powerful women compete against each other sounds FUN TO ME! Maybe there is some romance in this drama where there is an older woman and younger man...😂 - JUST KIDDING!
Sponsor (Kdrama) (VIKI): [STARTS FEBRUARY 23RD, 2022]
I have been waiting AGES for this drama. I BETTER get it on a streaming site so I can watch it. I need a CRAZY, MAKJANG drama to replace Show Window: The Queen's House and I hope this makes the cut and fills the void. This drama has been pushed back from last year so I will just be happy to see it air finally, on a streaming site I have access too.
Juvenile Justice (Kdrama) (NETFLIX): [PREMIERES FEBRUARY 25TH, 2022]
First off, I did not think this drama would air in February but then it was announced. SECOND, IT IS A LOT DARKER THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE! I don't know what I was expecting but the trailer for this drama LOOKS SO MUCH DARKER! I can't wait to check this drama at the end of the month. I am a HUGE fan of Kim Hye Soo. I am curious to see her in such a dark role and how this will play out. I don't know if I have ever seen her with this type of role before. Will it be about her character's growth or will it be a STRAIGHT UP crime drama?
I am dropping the KPOP comebacks from this post for now - if you guys want it back, just let me know!
I think we got a good mix of genres in dramas coming in February. Given the fact it is Valentine's Day in February, I am always worried we will be SWAMPED with romance dramas which aren't always my cup of tea.
What dramas did you start in January? Did you complete any dramas in January? What did you like that you completed? What are you looking forward to in February for dramas? Anything I missed and need to add to my list?
WE NOW ALSO HAVE A DISCORD SO TALK TO US ON THERE AS WELL!
