Because I am ambitious (maybe it's all the time I'm spending home and indoors too) and always thinking of new ideas that I want to write about - WE ARE DEBUTING ANOTHER NEW SERIES THIS WEEK ON THE BLOG! This series will just talk about what dramas/shows/movies I completed in the past month (in this case October) AND also talk about the dramas I am looking forward to in the upcoming month (in this case November). SO, A TWO - IN - ONE BLOG POST FOR ALL OF YOU! (maybe talk about some music as well at the end)
FIRST UP - THE DRAMAS I COMPLETED IN OCTOBER - I watch airing dramas and completed dramas so either the last episode of the airing drama happened in October so I could complete it this month OR I started and binged the drama within the month of October. It is a little mix of both. Since October is OF COURSE Halloween month, I tried to watch a lot more scarier and monster related content. I THOUGHT I DID QUITE WELL!
DRAMAS I COMPLETED IN OCTOBER
-Missing: The Other Side (KOREAN - AIRING): I LOVED this drama. It was a mix of so many genres: crime, supernatural, comedy and a little melodrama mixed in. This will definitely be in my list of favorite 2020 dramas FOR SURE! I found some new actors I LOVE through this drama so I am happy about that. I cried with every episode but that means I was REALLY invested -ESPECIALLY when it came to what happened to the characters in the end. I had no issue with the ending - PLEASE GIVE US SEASON 2!
-Stranger 2 (KOREAN - AIRING): I was a HUGE fan of season 1 so it was no surprise that I was going to watch season 2. Now I have to say, it took me a lot longer to get into season 2. The beginning is VERY slow. I also don't know if it was just me but I also found season 2 harder to follow than season 1. What I did love about this season was the fact that we got to revisit all the characters and it was so good to see them! The ending FOR SURE did not disappoint though - MAN WHAT AN ENDING! If you are a fan of season 1, you should really check out this season too.
-Strangers From Hell (KOREAN): Due to Halloween, this was the first drama I decided to binge during the month of October. All I have to say is WHY DIDN'T I WATCH THIS WHEN IT AIRED!? It was the perfect binge for October. It was creepy and sent chills down my spine. It was a very unsettling drama to watch because you could never quite get too comfortable. THE OSTS ARE SO GOOD!
-Miss Gu Who is Silent(CHINESE - AIRING): This drama actually ended at the end of September but I didn't get around to watching the last episode until October had already started. This one surprised me because I really didn't expect the final reveal. If you want a nice crime drama that will keep you entertained - WATCH THIS ONE!
-Frankenstein No Kei (JAPANESE): This drama was the second drama I decided to binge during the month of October. I mean it has Frankenstein in the title SO WHY NOT BINGE IT FOR HALLOWEEN? It was a lot more heartfelt than I expected it to be. The twist on the original origin story of Frankenstein was GREAT because it kept things interesting.
-Lie After Lie (KOREAN - AIRING): If you are into Makjang dramas, THIS ONE IS FOR YOU! I mean you get ONE HELL OF A MOTHER-IN LAW! This drama drove me nuts every week because I just wanted all the evil characters to GO DOWN IN FLAMES! The acting was SO GOOD - JUST SUPERB! For me, the ending was very satisfying but that was because I could not wait to see the evil characters to get what they deserved from the VERY beginning of the drama.
-Zombie Detective (KOREAN - AIRING): I am HONESTLY surprised I finished this drama. This kind of comedic drama usually doesn't work for me and I end up dropping it. I am very particular with my humor (I have a weird sense of humor). It was a HILARIOUS drama that is great to watch to celebrate Halloween. I would watch a season 2 if there is ever one made.
-Mr. Heart (KOREAN - AIRING): Mr. Heart was a short and sweet drama. I will admit, something was lacking for me even thought I can't quite put my finger on it. If you are into sports or school dramas - you should check this one out.
-SF8 Series (KOREAN - AIRING): I LOVED this series! I found it to be quite unique within the drama landscape. It is an anthology of stories all with a sci-fi element involved. While some episodes were better than others, I will still recommend the series as a whole! I found it to be quite experimental with some episodes and allowed the actors to stretch their acting chops, working with concepts that aren't normally seen in dramaland.
-#Alive (KOREAN - Movie):The third and last thing I watched because October is the month of scary things. It was an interesting watch because of the time of quarantine that we are living in right now. It is a SOLID zombie movie FOR SURE! If you are a fan of zombie movies - CHECK THIS ONE OUT FOR SURE!
October was CRAZY with drama premieres and OF COURSE I wanted to watch them all HAHA. November looks like it is calming down a bit - at least for this month. This is the list of all the dramas that are supposedly premiering in November that I am excited about. Now, will I be able to watch them all - WHO KNOWS! Depends if they come to a legal site that I am subscribed too. WE WILL SEE! (I will write in the sites if I already know where the dramas will land)
NEW NOVEMBER DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR
-Hikaru NO GO (CHINESE) (iQIYI APP) - I AM A HUGE FAN OF THE ANIME/MANGA THAT THIS DRAMA IS BASED OFF OF! Now I had no idea until today that this was a Chinese drama adaption of the anime/manga SO when I did hear that I IMMEDIATELY knew I had to watch this drama.
-Take Revenge (KOREAN)(VIKI): This drama sounds RIGHT UP MY ALLEY! I mean, WHO DOESN'T LOVE A GOOD REVENGE STORY? It is not just one character who is out for revenge, it sounds like all the characters are out for revenge and will band together to achieve that. I SMELL FOUND FAMILY ELEMENTS - MY FAVORITE DRAMA TROPE OF ALL TIME!
-The Uncanny Counter (KOREAN)(RUMOR - NETFLIX): I love how experimental and unique this drama sounds. It is about demon hunters that come to earth and their cover is running a noodle shop. I see action, supernatural, comedy and suspense ALL IN MY FUTURE! This is giving me Mystic Pop-Up Bar vibes which is a 2020 Korean drama THAT I LOVED!
-AWAKEN (KOREAN): This drama is a crime drama AND THAT IS ALL I NEED TO KNOW! I mean crime dramas are my favorite genre (future blog post about this coming soon). You got a team of cops with different backgrounds and skills investigating a series of mysterious incidents from the past - I'M IN! Namgoong Min looked SO GOOD in the first teaser for this drama - I like when he plays more serious (slightly crazy) characters and his character for this drama fits that description.
-BRIGHT SWORD 3: THE LIGHTNING GENERAL (CHINESE): Not going to lie, the ONLY reason I am even interested in this drama is because Zhang Yun Long is in it HAHA! I want to see him in another lead role after his fantastic drama earlier this year, My Roommate is a Detective. I don't know much else about it. It is set in a period of time that I like cdramas to be set in. It also was made a couple of years ago but we will see. I am going to at least check it out if it comes to a site, I can watch it.
-MANNER OF DEATH (THAI): I hope that this drama premieres somewhere that I can watch it! People may know these 2 actors from other Thai dramas but this will be my first time watching them in a drama. You got crime, medical examiner and investigations - SIGN ME UP! As I said earlier, CRIME DRAMAS ARE MY JAM!
