April 2026 WRAP UP

I keep saying every month that I am going to complete more dramas than the last month and then just keep pace with what I was doing in 2025. 😂 April 2026 was the same case. The big difference as I have been saying all of 2026 is that even though I have been completing the same number of dramas I watched per month in 2025, my mental health and mood are much better. So, I am happy with April once again. In May I am taking a bit of a break from writing/podcasting/recording podcasts so, I am still going to be watching dramas, but you won't hear from me on the blog/YouTube Channel/podcast during the month of May. I will return in June with all the drama updates though. During my break, I hope to clear off my current watchlist just like I have been doing on the back end of April. We will see what I end up completing in May.

DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN APRIL 2026

I managed to get some dramas off my current watchlist in April that had been on my list for quite some time, since the beginning of 2026. I am happy with this. Some of the dramas I completed were for podcast recordings. Other dramas I completed were to get them off my current watchlist. I plan to get more off my current watchlist in May as I have said. I did complete some great dramas in April though.

The Mirage (Cdrama) (IQIYI): This cdrama is probably one of my surprise favorites of the year. Yes, it isn’t high budget, and it shows. The acting is good but not great. The best part is the story. It is tight and well done with lots of twists. The mixing of genres was fun. I LOVED the main group and found family. You got attached to these characters for sure. It DEFINITELY needs a Season 2 because of the unanswered questions at the end. It is just a unique cdrama and I wish more people watched it. It definitely flew under a lot of people's radar when it aired.

RATING: 9/10

Love Between Lines (Cdrama) (IQIYI): A near perfect drama for me except for some minor issues. I hated all of the parents. They were forgiven too easily with no real conversation. The Secrets should have been revealed earlier. I LOVED the main couple and their relationship - lots of sweet moments. They had a great mature relationship. I loved the mix of reality and VR. There will be a future podcast review for this cdrama on The NoSleep4dramas Podcast in the summer of 2026.

RATING: 9.5/10

Parallel World (Cdrama) (VIKI): This cdrama was entertaining but could have been way better. I LOVED NiNi’s character & the romantic relationship between the leads. I loved the lore within the drama, but it did get convoluted at the end & was hard to follow. I also felt like the ending was very anticlimactic. I loved that there were multiple couples but man I did not support 1 couple getting together. I have to give props to the team working in the elements and on site. The CGI was also inconsistent with how well it done was. There is a podcast review for this cdrama on the NoSleep4dramas Podcast that came out in April that you can go and listen to right now.

RATING: 7.5/10

NEW MAY 2026 DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR

AS WITH EVERY MONTH, THERE ARE A TON OF DRAMAS I AM LOOKING FORWARD TOO! There are not many dramas with confirmed premiere dates that I am excited for. THERE ARE A LOT OF RUMORED DRAMAS FOR MAY THAT I AM EXCITED FOR THOUGH! Just like in April, I am all over the place with countries and genres for the dramas I am looking forward to in May. There are a lot of May dramas that have caught my eye.

Wu (Thai Drama) (maybe YouTube) [PREMIERES MAY 5, 2026] (8 Episodes)

I did not know this Thai Drama existed until the trailer popped up on YouTube. I checked it out because I love a good magic/horror concept for Thai dramas. This one looks interesting. It is about a guy who has a fragment of a demon's soul within him. He meets another guy who is a Shaman of sorts. We got a little bit of mystery and a little bit of horror. I don't think it is a BL drama, I think it will just be a Bromance drama, but we will see once it starts. I know some of the actors and actresses in the supporting cast, but I don't think I have watched the leads in anything.

The Legend of Kitchen Soldier (Kdrama) (VIKI) [PREMIERES MAY 11TH, 2026] (12 episodes)

This Kdrama caught my eye with the first trailer. It looks like it is a comedy which doesn't interest me. What DOES interest me is the concept of the story and it have food as the main theme. Park Ji Hoon starring in it is a big plus as well. I love him as an actor. The rest of the cast has some great actors as well such as Lee Hong Nae, Yoon Kyung Ho and Lee Sang Yi (as a cameo). This Kdrama is about a guy who enlists in the military. He discovers that he has access to this virtual game that only he can see. It is a game all about cooking so, he becomes a cook in the military. This game makes him an Ace chef in the military. That sounds like a unique concept to me and sounds like a Kdrama that might stand out.

Soul Mate (Jdrama) (NETFLIX) [PREMIERES MAY 14, 2026] (8 Episodes)

The BL Jdrama has been on my radar for months! It is FINALLY coming to Netflix in May. The 2 male leads, Isomura Hayato and Ok Taecyeon, are great actors and are a main reason why I want to check this jdrama out. It is also another one of those crossover Japanese and Korean dramas. This one is a Japanese drama bringing in a Korean actor. Apparently this Jdrama was filmed in a bunch of different countries so, I am curious about that and why. It also is a Netflix production so, I am curious what the production will look like. We won't have to wait long because it finally is coming in May. This BL Jdrama is about a Japanese man who leaves Japan and meets a Korean man in a foreign country. It doesn't say if that foreign country is Korea or not and they just start living together. Apparently, it is a healing drama because both leads have some serious trauma to work through.

The Air (Thai Drama) (IQIYI) [PREMIERES MAY 16, 2026] (8 Episodes)

I have yet to check a GL Thai drama even though a few are on my plan to watch this. The Air is set in the same universe as some other GL Thai dramas that have come out in 2026 or plan to come out in 2026. They are all airing on IQIYI right now. I love a good, classic bodyguard romance. The other Thai Dramas in this universe that have aired so far in 2026 have some pretty high ratings on MDL, so, that got me curious in this Thai Drama. We will see if I check this one out because as I said I have a few other Thai GL dramas that are already on my plan to watch list that I still need to click play on.

RUMORED CDRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR THAT MIGHT AIR IN MAY 2026

There are many cdramas that I have mentioned in previous wrap up blogposts that did not premiere when they were first rumored and are now rumored for May. Some have rumored dates for May, and some are just rumored for May. So, I just list them out below and if they have rumored dates or not, but I am not going into detail about them again. I talked about them previously in past 2026 wrap up blogposts. These cdramas include:

Liang Chen Mei Jin [Rumored to premiere on May 3, 2026]

I talked about this Cdrama in my Anticipated Cdramas for 2026 blogpost. As I said in that blogpost, I LOVE Ci Sha. I have watched a few of his dramas and have many of his dramas on my plan to watchlist. This drama is one of his first lead roles that I see coming up for him. This sounds like a marriage first, find love later story which I am a SUCKER for. The support cast looks great for this drama and it looks like it may be household politics dramas which I need to watch more of. The drama stills of this drama look very pretty so, this drama has potential FOR SURE! We will see if it actually premieres or not.

The Melody of Love [Rumored to premiere on May 11, 2026]

I am on the fence about this Cdrama because some things catch my eye but other things about this drama makes me worried. The cast doesn't seem that bad and I think they will do quite well in the drama. The posters and stills from the drama look great. Everyone looks very pretty in this drama. I LOVE good Amnesia trope which this has. This drama is about a musician who meets a male lead with amnesia. They agree to help each other out. What makes me worried about this one is the screenwriter. I have not liked any of the Cdramas I have tried from this screenwriter. This screenwriter also did Love in Pavilion and Sword and Beloved. So, the screenwriter is not a reason why I am interested in this Cdrama.

In the Moonlight [Rumored to premiere on May 16, 2026]

I mentioned this Cdrama also in my Anticipated Cdramas for 2026 blogpost. I said in the blogpost that this drama caught my eye due to the plot. We have an arranged political marriage. We have exile to a foreign land so, it seems a little more exotic in the plot description. The costumes look nice in this cdrama as well. The stills from this cdrama look very pretty. I have not seen the male or female lead in a drama before, but I do know of them and recognize them. They just are not the reason I am interested in this drama. This stars Wang Hong Yi and Bao Shang En. A bunch of their dramas are on my plan to watch list. Apparently, they changed a lot of the plot from the novel that it is based off of - just FYI. I have not read the book but that might be an issue for others who have read the book.

Blossoms of Power [Rumored to premiere on May 29, 2026]

I KNOW THIS CDRAMA IS HIGHLT ANTICPATED BY A LOT OF PEOPLE! I also have been looking forward to it for quite some time and mentioned it in my Anticipated Cdramas for 2026 blogpost. I am definitely curious about this drama because of Meng Zi Yi since I am currently watching her in Blossom. I don't think I have seen He Yu in anything except for his cameo in Blossom but many of his dramas are on my plan to watchlist. I love the trope of sickly male lead and a female lead who is smart, cold and calculating. I am curious what their chemistry will be like and how this plot will be.

Spring of the Blade [Rumored for May 2026]

I did not know this Cdrama existed until IQIYI put up the trailer. I was even more surprised when I found out that it was rumored for May even though IQIYI just released the trailer recently in April. It is about a woman seeking revenge and even though we have gotten a lot of that plot over the last couple of years in Cdramaland, I eat it up every time because I love a good revenge plot, especially if it is the female lead seeking revenge. As I said last month, all of Xu Kai's upcoming dramas has had movement with them over the last couple of months. I also LOVE this poster and how it is made to look like a painting.
