WELCOME BACK TO ANOTHER HIDE & SEEK BLOG POST!! This time it is ALL ABOUT SQUID GAME - as you can see from the title. This Korean drama has taken the world by storm. So, I thought, maybe people will want to watch some of these actors/actresses in other things? This blog post will help you out finding other works to watch your favorite actors from Squid Game in other dramas/movies.
Now, I might not be able to include absolutely EVERYONE from Squid Game but I will try to cover as many people as I can. I am also not including a couple of people because of SPOILERS! Did I include some of your favorite actors/actresses from Squid Game? Did I miss them?
Squid Game is a WORLD WIDE PHEOMENON! It is EVERYWHERE and there are many reasons why. It is addictive and SO GOOD! It has AMAZING talent in it which means it has AMAZING acting in it. So, where can you watch this AMAZING talent now that you discovered them in Squid Game and don't want to say goodbye to them yet?
LEE JUNG JAE as SEONG GI HOON
LEE JUNG JAE is a veteran actor. He has been in many dramas and movies. I was first exposed to him in the Along with the God movie series. If you have not seen those movies, GO WATCH THEM RIGHT NOW! He is in the recent Kdrama Chief of Staff Season 1 and Season 2 which you can find on Netflix. Since it is October, you might want to check out one of his recent movies Svaha: The Sixth Finger.
PARK HAE SOO as CHO SANG WOO
PARK HAE SOO has quite a few dramas coming up. He has one drama that is supposed to air at the end of this month called Chimera which I am DEFINITELY watching. I like him in the movie Time to Hunt from 2019. Another one of his most famous roles is from the kdrama Prison Playbook which is always one of those Kdramas that you must watch. He also has a role in Persona which is an interesting mini kdrama - I had fun with that one. You can find that one on Netflix as well.
JUNG HO YEON as KANG SAE BYEOK
BELIEVE IT OR NOT THIS IS JUNG HO YEON'S FIRST ACTING ROLE IN ANYTHING! She has worked as a model before this. She has been a guest on a few variety shows but Squid Game was her debut. I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE WHAT SHE DOES NEXT! She is so talented. I love when I discover new talent to follow in their careers.
WI HA JOON as HWANG JOON HO
I was SO EXCITED to see WI HA JOON join this cast as a main lead. I have seen him pop up in other kdramas as a support role so many times. 2021 was his time to shine AND SQUID GAME HAS DONE THAT! You might recognize him from his roles in Something in the Rain, Romance is a Bonus Book or last year's 18 Again. He also has a couple of movies that came out this year as well. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE LEAD ROLES FOR HIM IN THE FUTURE!
OH YOUNG SOO as OH IL NAM
Squid Game is actually my first time seeing OH YOUNG SOO in any Korean drama or movie. Like many others, he has made an impression FOR SURE! He was in the 2019 drama Chocolate. He also was part of the cast of some pretty famous older kdramas such as Queen Seon Duk.
HEO SUNG TAE as JANG DEOK SOO
This is not the first time that I have featured HEO SUNG TAE in one of my Hide & Seek posts. If you are an avid Kdrama watcher, you might have heard of OR EVEN SEEN a little Kdrama called Beyond Evil 😉. Heo Sung Tae was also in that AMAZING drama which is on Netflix right now and you can read my Hide & Seek post on that drama RIGHT HERE! Heo Sung Tae has done a lot of movies and dramas. I loved him in Age of Shadows and the Kdrama Tunnel which I mentioned in my Beyond Evil blog post. I also liked The Swindlers and God's Quiz Kdrama series is always a good choice for a crime drama too. HE IS IN A LOT OF THINGS! He has another drama coming to Netflix in December called The Silent Sea.
KIM JOO RYUNG as HAN MI NYEO
The first role that I saw KIM JOO RYUNG in was the SF8 special Joan's Galaxy. If you have not seen the SF8 drama specials, YOU SHOULD! Kim Joo Ryung is also an actress who has been in a lot of things both as a guest, support and main role. She has had roles in dramas such as Andante, Mr. Sunshine, Ghost Detective and The School Nurse Files. She has a new drama coming out next year called Sabotage City that I am REALLY looking forward too.
ANUPAM TRIPATHI as ALI ABDUL
Now you may think this is ANUPAM TRIPATHI's first Kdrama role. YOU WOULD BE WRONG! He has had guest roles in dramas such as Taxi Driver and Strangers from Hell. He also has had guest roles in movies such as Space Sweepers, Miss & Mrs. Cops and The 8th Night. Squid Game was his first Support Role.
LEE YOO MI as JI YEONG
LEE YOO MI has been acting for quite a few years now. I first came across her in Voice Season 2 where she had a guest role. I loved her in 2020's Kdrama 365: Repeat the Year. She made quite an impression with that role. She has also had roles in Kdramas such as My Holo Love and Doctor John and in movies such as Hwayi: A Monster Boy. Her drama All of Us Are Dead that is coming out next year is one I am looking forward too.
YOO SUNG JOO as BYEONG KI
YOO SUNG JOO has a fair number of dramas that he has been in. He was in Sky Castle, Search and Class of Lies. I most recently watched him in this year's drama Times. He is always a good actor in anything he does and is quite memorable as well in all his roles.
GONG YOO as GUEST APPEARANCE
Everyone is talking about "train station guy" from Squid Game. If you aren't familiar with Kdramas, you might not know GONG YOO. If you are an avid Kdrama watcher you, OF COURSE, know who Gong Yoo is. Either way, if you want to see Gong Yoo in some of the dramas/movies that he has been in might I suggest the Kdrama Goblin and the movies Age of Shadows, Train to Busan (HAHA TRAIN STATION GUY 😂) and Seobok.
