So, this post is going to do 2 things. Look back at my 2021 drama watching resolutions and see how I did in 2021 and also present my 2022 drama watching resolutions. I normally don't do resolutions for the new year because I mostly don't follow them but I have tended to make resolutions or goals related to dramas/kpop/the blogs I write so I thought I would continue it. IT IS FUN TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END OF THE YEAR!
LOOKING BACK AT 2021 DRAMA WATCHING RESOLUTIONS

1) SET A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF DRAMAS I AM WATCHING AT ONE TIME
I did try and keep my drama number to a limit of around 12/13 or so. I think I was successful at this. I never went back to 17. THATS FOR SURE! I was more overwhelmed when I got behind on the dramas, I was watching in 2021 not because of the number of dramas I was watching.
2) ONLY WATCH 1 COMPLETED DRAMA AT ONCE TIME
I DEFINITELY DID NOT FOLLOW THIS! I either just clicked play on multiple completed dramas at once OR EVEN let airing dramas finish airing and keep them on my current watchlist for weeks after. That means I am watching more than 1 complete drama at a time at that point. I mean I brought 4 COMPLETED dramas into 2022 if that tells you anything. 🤣
3)WATCH MORE VARIETY OF DRAMAS
I think I was somewhat successful at this. Kdramas were still my top country for what dramas I watched in 2021 BUT I did watch my first lakorn in 2021. I did watch more Taiwanese and Japanese dramas as well in 2021. So, I think it was a start. I mean the more variety I watch, THE MORE REVIEWS I CAN WRITE FOR THIS BLOG. That way, you as readers can be introduced to more dramas as well. I mean that is the goal RIGHT!?
4)BE MORE SELECTIVE
I think I was a little successful at this. I didn't drop as many dramas as I thought I would in 2021. I would like to think that is because I was more selective in what dramas I clicked play on. I still think I could have been better at this.
5)DROP IT
I know I was not successful as this. One reason I mentioned above, I think I was more selective at what I clicked play on, so I didn't need to drop A LOT of dramas in 2021. I was surprised with how many dramas I dropped because it was SO MUCH smaller than I thought it would be. NOW, I also know that I stuck it out with some dramas in 2021 where I should have just dropped them. SO, I WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL WITH THIS RESOLUTION IN 2021!
NOW FOR MY 2022 DRAMA WATCHING RESOLUTIONS
It shouldn't be a surprise, but I am pretty much going to keep the same resolutions I had for 2021 because some worked, and I want to improve on them. Others, I completely failed at them, and I want to actually try and do them now. I might also add a couple of new resolutions to 2022.
1) SET A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF DRAMAS I AM WATCHING AT ONE TIME
As I said, I did pretty good with this in 2021 but in 2022, I want to do EVEN BETTER! I am going to try and keep it at 10. THAT WILL BE SO HARD FOR ME! I want to push myself though. I want to see if this number allows me to finish more dramas or not. I am not a binger, so I want to try and find my sweet spot with the number of dramas I watch at one time because I want to watch more dramas this year. I also don't want to fall behind and get overwhelmed. THERE HAS TO BE A SWEET SPOT RIGHT!?
2) ONLY WATCH 1 COMPLETED DRAMA AT ONCE TIME
Since I definitely did not follow this in 2021, I want to try again in 2022. As I said in my 2021 resolutions post, I think it will help me with the number of dramas I watch at one time. I do worry that since I am not a binger that I will cave and start multiple completed dramas. I am REALLY going to try and not do this. As I said above, I BROUGHT 4 COMPLETED DRAMAS INTO 2022 and now I am trying to finish all of them before I start any new dramas. I CAN'T HELP IT IF THE SHINY NEW DRAMAS DRAW ME IN! I am really going to try and stick with this one this year though.
3)WATCH MORE VARIETY OF DRAMAS
I want to watch EVEN MORE variety in 2022. I know I want to watch more Japanese dramas. Since I watched my first lakorn in 2021, I want to watch more lakorns in 2022 as well. Basically, my goal is to always be watching a good mix of all types of dramas, both countries and genres.
4)BE MORE SELECTIVE
I want to continue doing this and even get better at it. You don't have to watch a drama just because it is popular. Don't feel bad if you don't like a popular drama or you choose to watch a drama that has bad reviews, and you like it. You as a drama watcher has to form your own opinion on dramas. If you know you won't like something, don't watch it. If you aren't liking a drama, DROP IT! If I want to watch another crime drama even if I am already watching 5 crime dramas, that is what I am going to do. If I choose to drop a drama that everyone else is enjoying, THAT IS MY DECISION!
5)DROP IT
IF I AM NOT ENJOYING A DRAMA, I NEED TO DROP IT! There were a few dramas that I finished in 2021 that in hindsight, I just needed to drop and not watch it anymore. JUST DROP IT CAITLIN!
6)ALWAYS TRY TO BE WATCHING A MAKJANG/CHEATING DRAMA?
Now this isn't really a resolution, maybe a challenge, but I want to watch A LOT of cheating, makjang, scandal dramas this year. I HAVE A LOT OF FUN WITH THESE TYPES OF DRAMAS! So, why not try and watch a BUNCH of them this year. So, if you have any recommendations, I AM ALL EARS!
7) END OF THE YEAR CLEAN OUT
I am actually doing this right now in January 2022 but I should have done it in November/December of 2021. I want to start a new year with AS MUCH OF A CLEAN SLATE AS POSSIBLE! That means, be strategic in what I watch at the end of the year. I want to try and complete all the complete dramas I am currently watching by the end of this year and not bring them into the new year. Like I said above, I BROUGHT 4 COMPLETED DRAMAS IN THIS YEAR! That is unacceptable 😂 During the holidays, I don't watch a lot of dramas because I am with family so during that time, it would be the PERFECT time to do this. Complete the airing dramas and get them off my plate and complete all the other dramas to get them off my current watchlist. START THE NEW YEAR WITH A CLEAN SLATE!
