Well, I haven't written one of these in a while. I have not only wrapped up January but it is also a new year. So, I wrapped up the multiple months I missed plus an entire year since my last "WRAP UP" post. How was everyone's rest of 2022? I hope you watched a lot of things over the holidays and had a good January.
DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN JANUARY
I had a lot of life changes happen over the past couple of months and it did not stop in January. So, this month I did not finish a lot of dramas. I also brought a few dramas over from 2022 so, I have been trying to finish those dramas before I start any new ones. That hadn't really worked but I am behind on most of what I am watching due to both of these things. I still managed to finish a couple of things in January.
The Love Proposal (Thai Drama) (YOUTUBE): There are a lot of things I love about this lakorn. This is only the second lakorn I have ever watched. I plan to do a more in-depth review in another blogpost. I liked both couples in this drama. Both had great chemistry together. There were a lot of horrible people in this drama so the end was very satisfying to me. I did not think the gay part of the storyline was needed. I see why it was there but it could have been replaced by another heterosexual relationship and would not have changed much. I did appreciate that there was never a love triangle and the family dynamics were great to see. I loved the brothers in this drama too and how much they cared for each other. You can read my full review here.
Korean Drama Awards (VIKI): Like I do every year, I watched all of the network Kdrama award shows. I think this is the 4th year in a row that I have done this. I love doing this in January because I like revisiting the Kdramas I have watched over the past year and getting a small preview on some new Kdramas coming out in the coming year. I also like seeing who wins the awards. There is definitely a network I like more than others too.
Jung_E (Kmovie) (NETFLIX): This movie was not what I expected it to be which threw me off. I LOVED the acting. I LOVED the action scenes. I mean I am talking EPIC, badass action scenes. As per usual with Netflix movies there was beautiful cinematography & CGI. I was expecting it to be this action-packed movie but it had a lot deeper conversation within it. I rated the movie lower because I just was thrown off by this and this not expect it. It was A LOT sadder than I expected it to be. I also have mixed feelings on some plot points like certain motivations a character seemed to have or not have or certain decisions a character made, especially at the end. The end was also sort of open ended and clearly Netflix wants to make a second one. You can read my full review here.
The Only Girl You Haven't Seen Season 1 (Cdrama) (YOUTUBE): I started this drama series due to a podcast recommendation. Season 1 was better than I expected it to be. I loved the lead couple's chemistry. I loved how expressive and well-acted both of the leads were. Of course, since there was a Season 2, A lot was left to be wrapped up in Season 2 but that was expected knowing that there was a season 2 to watch. I found this season 1 of this drama to be quite entertaining and I loved the leads together.
The Only Girl You Haven't Seen Season 2 (Cdrama) (YOUTUBE): I liked Season 1 more than Season 2. The acting was still good and the leads still had great chemistry. The second season was a lot darker than season 1 which didn't bother me. I thought the writers wrote a couple of things into the plot that were unnecessary like sexual assault so Triger warning for that. I also didn't like how the ending played out and would have liked a different ending.
NEW FEBRUARY 2023 DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR:
I honestly don't know how many dramas I am looking forward to in February. I know there are a few Kdramas and a KMovie I am definitely excited for. There is also a TON of Jdramas that are coming to international platforms so, I am ALWAYS going to excited for those. I am so excited that we getting access to more Jdramas on international platforms. Beyond that, I have no idea. So, let's see what ends up on this list.
I Will Be Your Bloom (Jdrama) (NETFLIX): [ON NETFLIX FEBRUARY 1ST, 2023]
Look, if you give me a Jdrama in a genre I like, it will immediately go on my "Plan to Watch" list. I have said this before I will say it again, Japan is my favorite country to watch romance dramas from. This has a lot going for it. Cohabitation, music, romance and I love the cast. That is all I got to say for this one.
Boys Planet (KVariety) (VIKI): [PREMIERES FEBRUARY 2ND, 2023]
I watched Girls Planet so, OF COURSE, I am going to watch Boys Planet. I am curious who the mentors and judges will be. I also heard that the show has changed up the format of the show. I wonder what that means. I already love the song they released for the show.
Our Blooming Youth (Kdrama) (VIKI): [PREMIERES FEBRUARY 6TH, 2023]
I have been looking forward to this drama since it was announced. The first thing is that we probably will never see the Chinese Drama "The Golden Hairpin" and this drama is based off of that story, I am excited just because of that. Then you got historical, mystery drama which is music to my ears because I do like a good mystery set in historical times. Of course, we can't ignore the fact that Park Hyung Sik is in this but I also love the other leads/supporting cast as well. It is a good cast and I am excited to see what they do with this drama.
The Full-Time Escapist Wife (Jdrama) (NETFLIX): [ON NETFLIX FEBRUARY 16TH, 2023]
Again, another romance Jdrama that has caught my attention. You had contract marriage in the synopsis and I am IMMEDIATELY interested. I also like multiple members of the cast so, that is a plus too. I have had my eye on this one for a while so, I am glad I finally have access to it.
Taxi Driver Season 2 (Kdrama) (KOCOWA/maybe VIKI): [PREMIERES FEBRUARY 17TH, 2023]
I know Taxi Driver was either liked or not liked by people. I also know that many people don't like that Kdramas are getting more seasons. I don't really care as long as the ending isn't a huge cliffhanger or just find of cuts off. I also enjoyed Taxi Driver. So, I am excited to revisit this found family and spending more time with them.
Unlocked (KMovie) (NETFLIX): [PREMIERES FEBRUARY 17TH, 2023]
I am really liking this once a month movie thing that Netflix seems to be getting into. I hope it keeps up. In February, Netflix is releasing UNLOCKED and IT LOOKS SO GOOD! I love Korean thriller movies because they can be a WHOLE other level. The cast is great so, I know there will be some good acting. Also, to see Im Si Wan play a creepy stalker will be great to see because he is so talented.
Call Me Chichiro (JMovie) (NETFLIX): [PREMIRES FEBRUARY 24TH, 2023]
The synopsis for this movie sounds SO GOOD! It also sounds like there is going to be a lot of food shots in this drama which we all know I am a fan of movies and dramas that are centered about food. I am sure this movie is going to make me want to watch the Midnight Diner series that I have not watched yet.
Island Season 2 (Kdrama) (AMAZON PRIME): [PREMIRES FEBRUARY 24TH, 2023]
I haven't watched Season 1 one because I decided to just wait for both seasons to be out. Needless to say, I am pretty excited to FINALLY click play on this drama.
That is my list for what I watched in January and what I am looking forward to in February, 2023. Hopefully I can finish more dramas in February than I did in January.
